1. How CrockBites Uses Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your web browser when you visit a website. CrockBites uses strictly necessary first-party cookies to keep signed-in members authenticated and to protect accounts against Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF), along with browser local storage for kitchen convenience features.
2. Essential First-Party Cookies
When you register, sign in, or manage the site, CrockBites sets the following essential cookies:
crockbites_user_session: An HTTP-only, cryptographically random session token that keeps you signed in to your member account for up to 30 days (or until you sign out). Only a SHA-256 hash of this token is stored in our Cloudflare D1 database.crockbites_user_csrf: A security token paired with your active session to verify that actions such as saving a favorite recipe, submitting or editing a review, or updating your profile originate from you.crockbites_admin&crockbites_admin_csrf: Isolated authentication and CSRF cookies used exclusively by authorized site administrators when managing recipes or moderating spam.
3. Browser Local Storage
Public recipe pages provide interactive tools—including US/Metric measurement conversion, serving-size scaling, Cooking Mode step tracking, and kitchen timers. Your browser may store these non-personal display preferences locally on your device so they are remembered between page loads.
4. Infrastructure & Security Technologies
CrockBites is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and Workers, with recipe photography served via Cloudinary. Cloudflare may set security or edge-routing cookies where necessary to detect malicious traffic and protect login and API endpoints.
5. Advertising & Google AdSense
To keep our recipes free to read and print, CrockBites may display contextual or personalized advertisements served by Google AdSense or certified advertising partners:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites on the internet.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to CrockBites and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google My Ad Center or www.aboutads.info/choices.
6. Managing or Disabling Cookies
You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies at any time. Public recipes, ingredient scaling, unit conversion, and print views work without account cookies. However, blocking essential first-party cookies will prevent you from signing in, saving favorite recipes, or submitting community reviews.
